Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the arms control. She traveled widely with the president Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
